How Light Can a Bike Be?

Thought I’d share this since it’s awesome.  Tyler Volz at Wheat Ridge Cyclery showed me this bad larry.  12.4 lbs I think he said and it certainly felt it.  The handlebar grips are the best part.  Hard to see but trust me, they’re nice.  Black and red with an odd stickiness to them.  Paint is Matte Black so save on weight, ie the pain’t is ain’t.

How light are bikes going to get?  I keep thinking there isn’t much room for improvement and that the improvement curve must flatten but then the lbs keep coming off.  TdF bikes from a decade ago looks like they came over with Columbus.

I wonder if a fully equiped hard road riding ready sub 10lb bike for under $10k will happen?
