Lookout

The lookout mountain hill climb is one of those great fitness test workouts. There is really no way to dog it, and your times from month to month and year to year can act as a great barometer of your cycling fitness. Today most of the team headed out for about a 2.5 hour ride with part of that time consisting of lookout 2 times, and the first time going very hard.

Josh again stole the show as he went about 19:30 on what he probably considers a “bad day”. I quickly found out that I started WAY to hard; Josh didn’t catch me until about 5min. in, and usually by this time he is so far ahead I can’t even see him. I was still able to finish reasonably strong at 20:58, about 2o seconds back of Jones - another one of our powerhouse cyclists.

For this time of year, and on a training day 20:58 is a little ahead of where I have been in previous years. Paring good bike fitness with my swimming feeling off the charts is encouraging heading into St. Anthony’s in two weeks. Tomorrow I have a feeling I will be brought back down to earth during our Sunday 12 miler, a workout where my run strong teammates really shine.
