Why no LetsRun.com of triathlon?

I’ve been thinking lately about the lack of a great triathlon website.
When I started running in college in 2000 LetsRun.com was just starting out and was emerging as the go to place for running news. They’ve gotten even better in the last 9 years by sticking to what they do best:
1) Gather all the relevant elite related running news onto one site. Every morning they scour the web, find the best stories, (usually about a dozen), and link them to their frontpage. How they go about finding all these stories is beyond me.
2) Keep the focus on elite level running. It turns out there are more than 17 elite running affectionados out there who don’t care what food will take 12 seconds off your 5k or how walking sections of a marathon will better your time. What they do care about is that Regina Jacobs got busted for drugs or that Usain Bolt was seen out partying in Beijing after winning gold. Nearly every other news source misses this demographic.
3) When all the sources they gather aren’t covering something important, cover it yourself. There’s no in depth US coverage of the World Cross Country Championship so this LetsRun has gone to Kenya and Amman the past two years to cover THE most competitive race in the world. Likewise with many other aspects of running.
4) Lastly they aren’t afraid to voice an editorial opinion. When everyone else is mute, LetsRun calls out drug cheats and questions suspicious athlete. Two points here. When Regina Jacobs would show up to odd meets and set US records but never run in big time races like the Golden League or the Olympics, LetsRun started accusing her of taking drugs at press interviews. No one else did. What happened next? She tested positive.
Second point. Any athlete who tests positive thereafter gains the title “Drug Cheat” before their name any time they appear on LetsRun. LetsRun isn’t afraid to voice a strong opinion and its readers respect that.
So why isn’t there a tri website like this? Slowtwitch comes closest but doesn’t offer enough content. They only publish what they write and don’t offer links to pertinent articles written by others. They do write some articles with some editorial slant but they lack the bite that LetsRun does. They also write to the mainstream demographic of dedicated triathletes and not the ones who are most interested in the top rungs of the sport.
All in all I’d say that triathlon publications overall do a good job of covering the elite levels of the sport whether it be Inside Triathlon, Triathlete Magazine, or Slowtwitch. But no one dedicates themselves solely to this area.
Anyone else think there’s a business opportunity here or is there a lack of interest?
