How to join the Riptide Multisports Elite Triathlon Team
|
The Riptide Multisports Elite Triathlon Team is based in Arvada, CO and trains together on a daily basis. The team swims as a team throughout the year at the Duncan YMCA in Arvada, CO with Coach Sean Wendt on deck. Athletes compete in swimming and running races throughout the off season to maintain fitness and work on areas that need improvement.
The team also runs and rides regularly together and during the race season criterium style workouts are common.
The team anticipates adding 3 athletes to its roster for the 2010 triathlon season. Prospective team members will be expected to: 1) display a commitment to the concept of an elite triathlon team and being part of a group rather than racing individually. 2) attend practice at least three times per week and live in the Front Range/Denver area during the season (April - October). 3) hold a USAT Elite License or have performances that show a clear ability to gain a USAT Elite License within two years. In order to show this ability, prospective athletes are encouraged to compete in nationally recognized races. Prospective athletes should refer to USAT's list of elite qualifying races as a guide for such races. 4) focus on Olympic distance races and particularly ITU races with the goal of qualifying for the 2012 Olympic Trials. 5) accept team sponsors and not maintain sponsorships that conflict with team sponsors. 6) actively support team events and team fundraising. Since the Riptide team is managed by the athletes, it is very important that any prospective athlete is a good fit with the existing team. We will be making decisions on new athletes in Sept/Oct. 2009. In order for us to be able to make the most educated decision about your application, we suggest that you join us for at least a few practices in the summer of 2009 so that we can become familiar with you, your abilities, and most importantly, your willingness to work as a part of the team. If you currently live outside of Colorado, arrangements can be made for you to train with us over a 1-2 week period. If accepted to the team you MUST move to Colorado as stated in #2 of the above requirements. Please complete the interest form below if you want to be considered for the team. Please be sure to include a description of your athletic background as well as your top three triathlon race performances. |
