Weekend Recap

March 20th was a busy day for Team Riptide. Athletes raced in Miami, Rome, and New York City. Later this week we’ll have first-person recaps of each race, but for now we’ll summarize the results.


Miami 5150 International Triathlon


Jordan Jones and Dan Mackenzie flew to Miami, Florida to take part in the most competitive early season race of 2011. The stacked men’s elite field was comprised of 33 of the top triathletes from across the United States as well as around the world. Jones and Mackenzie rose to the occasion, placing solidly in 9th and 15th respectively.

Maratona di Roma (Rome Marathon)

Facing jetlag and weariness from travel, Cyrus Severance rallied hard in the second half of his first marathon in seven years to post a time of 2:46, a personal best by 8 minutes. The Rome Marathon course is infamous for a section of cobblestones in the last half of the race, as well as intense humidity.

New York City Half Marathon

Amy Dannwolf Jones hit the streets of the Big Apple this morning to participate in the 14,000 runner NYC 1/2 Marathon. Amy rolled through the hills of Central Park, and held on strong through Times Square and down West Side Highway to finish in a personal best time of 1:22, finishing 37th in the female field (including elites).
